A historic Devon country house

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming visitors to Hemerdon House in 2026. We are offering tours beginning at 2:30pm and 4:00pm, each lasting approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, on the dates below.
May 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 21st, 25th and 26th
June 6th, 7th, 8th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd
July 25th, 26th, and 27th
August 9th, 10th 11th, 25th, 26th, 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st
Between 2pm and 6pm on Open Days, our visitors are welcome, at their own risk, to explore the parkland, pond area and walled garden. (Please come to the house first, though, to let us know you’re here.) We ask you to bear in mind that the terrain can be very uneven in parts, and we advise waterproof footwear if the weather has been wet. Dogs on leads are permitted in the grounds.
There is no requirement to book unless you’re a party of 6 or more. Having said that, it’s worth bearing in mind that our maximum capacity is 15 per tour, and if you’d like us to reserve a place for you, you’re very welcome to phone ahead on 07704 708416 or email us at hemerdon.house@gmail.com.
If your party is between 6 and 10 people, please phone or email in advance as we can’t otherwise guarantee that we’ll be able to accommodate you.
Tours for groups of more than 10 people are offered by prior arrangement only, and will be accommodated outside the public Open Days.

Entrance fee: £10 (please note we cannot take card payments).
Historic Houses Members: no charge on presentation of your membership card.
Children under 12: no charge (but must be accompanied by an adult)
All ground floor reception rooms are accessible, and these are where most of the pieces of historical significance are to be seen. Unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access to the first floor and no disabled WC.
Access to the grounds and parkland is limited. Please contact us for more information.
The gateway to the house will be open, and parking is available, at visitors’ own risk, in the area by the front door.
