HEMERDON HOUSE

Hemerdon House was built by the Woollcombe family in the late 18th century. We are fortunate that it is still in our possession many generations on.

We offer our visitors a view of local and family history in the course of a tour of the main rooms, where you will see a range of artefacts collected over the generations. You are also very welcome (at your own risk) to explore the grounds between 2pm and 6pm on days when the house is open.

Situated in the beautiful South Hams area of Devon, Hemerdon House is approximately 40 minutes’ drive from Exeter and 20 minutes from Plymouth.

Hemerdon provides an intimate insight into a country house and its family from the late 18th-century to the present day.

OPEN DAYS

Visitors are welcomed on specified afternoons in spring and summer to enjoy a guided tour of the house interior. Our Open Day visitors are also free to explore the grounds between 2pm and 6pm (waterproof footwear is advised if the weather has been wet!). For this year’s dates and arrangements please see here.
